Emerald Automotive, a United Kingdom based automaker, produces extended range electric and hybrid vehicles. The CEO, Andy Tempest, stated that the T-001 will reduce fuel and emissions without cutting back on performance. The T-001 vans are designed as a greener and more fuel efficient fleet vehicle.
Emerald is setting up shop in the states and branching out into the North American market. The new factory, based in Hazelwood, MO, will begin production in the fourth quarter of 2014. The automaker is looking to hire 550 skilled professionals and is actually currently accepting resumes.
Despite not being an American company, Emerald is creating much appreciated job opportunities in the United States. More over, the Automaker is making conservational efforts in the area of fuel consumption on commercial vehicles.
The T-001 van can carry up to 3,000 pounds and can travel 475 miles on a single tank of gas. A top speed of 81 mph, a load capacity of 183 cubic feet and lightweight construction completely relieve fears about transit performance.
Why did Emerald pick Hazelwood, Missouri? According to their website, Missouri has the highest concentration of skilled workers in the automotive field. “Proximity to all transportation modes” also played a large role in the location choice. Emerald also stated that Hazelwood was a good cultural fit for the management team.
The exact site of the factory has not been decided on yet. Check back here for your Emerald Automotive updates.
